Hi guys! Today, my good friend Trena invited me to her channel, “Tips with Trena,” and asked me to share some top tips that I used to grow my YouTube channel very fast. I’m super excited to share these tips with you.

IOn my YouTube channel (as well as here on my blog), I provide career and business strategy to working professionals, and over the last couple of months, I have seen some amazing results.

In fact, in just six months, I had a video that went from zero to 100,000 views. And I had another video that went to 70,000 in just four months.

So I’m gonna share with you some of the things that I have done to make this possible.

Tip #1 – Research Before You Film

Before every video that I film, I actually research the topic. I make sure it’s something that my audience is looking for and that they will spend time watching.

I also look for topics that I can rank for. These are topics that have a high search volume but low search results.

Tip #2 – Batch Film

The second thing that I’ve done that has worked really well for me is to batch film. Normally, on my day of filming, I will film four videos in one day, and it normally takes me about two hours.

But when I do that, I have to block out the day and the time that I’m going to film. Now, those four videos allow me to put out one video a week, so I will film once a month for two hours.

Tip #3 – Get Comfortable with Video Editing Software

Now there is a little bit of a learning curve involved with this. By “getting comfortable with editing software,” I don’t mean to get comfortable adding bells and whistles and things like that to your videos.

All I mean is to learn how to quickly cut out mistakes you’ve made (bloopers), so that, when you’re filming, you’re not pressured to get it right.

It will save you time if you can cut a piece if you make a mistake, and the video can keep going without you pausing.

Tip #4 – Create Captivating Thumbnails

I know you’ve probably heard this advice so many times, but I’m going to tell you again: A good thumbnail is critical for your video.

I like to think of it as a gift. If someone hands you a present, you’re more likely to be excited to open it if it looks nice and neat, has bright colors, or is engaging.

Now, if the present is wrapped in a brown paper bag or a sack (which sometimes we have to do because we don’t have time), you’re not as excited about opening it.

So think of that as your thumbnail. The thumbnail needs to be captivating; it needs to be engaging; and it needs to make your audience want to open it or click on it.

Tip #5 – Find a Community

And the fifth thing that has worked well for me is to find a community. Now, I saved this for last, because for me, it’s probably been one of the most important things that I could have done for my channel.

Find others that are also trying to grow a YouTube channel and support them. You can normally find these types of groups on Facebook. There a lot of groups designated just for this purpose.

I would recommend not just dropping your link to your video in the group. Instead, do drop your link, but then also go and see who else has put a link in; watch, like, and comment on their video, and subscribe to their channel.

What will happen as you do this is your channel starts gaining momentum. And your community starts gaining momentum because you have a lot of people doing the same thing that you’re doing, so they all want to support each other.

Thanks guys, and good luck growing your channels!
