If so, stick around to learn where to find some of the best work-from-home career opportunities that allow you to work when you want and where you want.
As someone that has made a full-time income working from home for almost 10 years, I understand how important flexibility, autonomy, and independence are when it comes to a career.
The Ultimate Guide To Surviving Your Job Search
A step-by-step resource guide with action items you can take today to help you overcome the frustration and overwhelm of your job search.
Maybe you’re someone looking for another income stream, such as a student or stay-at-home mom, or maybe you’re ready to leave the rat race of the corporate world.
Either way, there is nothing better than working when you want, where you want. So let’s jump in to where you can find career opportunities that allow you to make this happen.
Option #1 – Find a Well-Established Organization that Offers Remote Work Opportunities
The great thing about working for an established organization is a more consistent paycheck and the possibility of health and vacation benefits.
And with remote work becoming more mainstream, there are a plethora of positions available. In fact, a study conducted by FlexJobs shows that telecommuting by employees has grown by 115% in last 10 years.
With just a little research, you can find a position with an established organization that aligns perfectly with your career aspirations while giving you a nice, healthy work/life balance.
Every year, FlexJobs announces the 100 top companies hiring people to work from home. A few of my favorites on the list are Amazon, Dell, and the UnitedHealth Group. (To find out the other 97 companies and how to apply for these remote jobs, jump on over to the FlexJobs website.)
Option #2 – Offer Your Expertise as a Freelancer
It’s easier now more than ever to become a freelancer, especially with platforms like Upwork and Fivver, where you can offer your services and talents in exchange for payment.
These global online workplaces have numerous work-from-home opportunities that range from web development, data entry, creative writing, and even financial planning.
In fact, Upwork recently reported that the jobs listed on their platform make more than $1 billion in revenue each year, and Fivver reported that they have more than $1 million in transactions per month. If you truly want to earn an income while working from home, you need to take a look at these two resources.
Option #3 – Become a Virtual Assistant
With how fast online businesses are growing and how easy it is to connect with others globally, virtual assistants are in high demand.
A virtual assistant ensures that the operations of a business run smoothly. As a VA, you perform tasks like organizing events, answering emails, managing social media accounts, creating presentations, and handling financial responsibilities – and these are just a few of the responsibilities.
A VA not only helps solopreneurs but also helps large organizations.
One of the easiest and quickest ways to become a VA is to visit sites like FancyHands, UpWork, FlexJobs, or Belay.
Option #4 – Create and Sell Digital Products
It’s so easy these days to create and sell digital products online! Using resources like Creative Market and Etsy, you can have your digital products up for sale within minutes.
Some of the most popular, easy-to-create digital products include fitness trackers, templates, party signs, inspirational quotes, kids stickers, planners, bathroom artwork, coloring pages, greeting cards, and even budgets.
If you enjoy taking pictures, consider creating bundles of themed images that you can sell. Some of the more common types of photography include styled stock photos, a beautiful scenery or even lifestyle shots.
Option #5 – Become an Online Teacher
I saved this one for last because it is my favorite! It’s one of the ways I’ve been able to stay at home and make a full-time income for over 10 years, and I think it’s something you should take a look at, too.
Online education is growing faster than ever. If you enjoy sharing your knowledge, skills, and expertise, then this is the work-from-home option for you.
There are so many great opportunities available for you, no matter your education level. You can first consider teaching English on a platform like VIPKid, through which you get to teach kids from China how to speak English. (By the way, VIPKid earned the #1 spot in the annual FlexJobs’ Top 100 Companies that are Hiring for Remote Work!)
Another platform is k12.com, an alternative learning platform for students in grades K-12. They offer work-from-home career opportunities, and you can choose from positions anywhere from teachers, student advisors, marketing directors, and even product development.
You can also browse higheredjobs.com for both full- and part-time remote, online positions. (For these positions, remember to check the education requirements.)
If you want to be more in control of the content and information you share, try jumping over to Skillshare, where you can create and sell courses on almost any topic. Some popular courses include gardening and woodworking.
